Following the "fun" picture the smiles are genuine and full of life. I asked them to position their faces about the same distance from the camera to keep them in focus.

Notice how I used the lighter area of the background to highlight the subjects. The small f-stop and distance I put between the subjects and the background caused the background to soften (be out of focus).
