This photo is an example of flare from light hitting the camera lens. Flare is a problem when the strobe is firing into the camera. Flare usually washes out details and contrast in an image, but it can also be used as a creative part of the composition. I don't think it is a help for this image. . . notice the pattern of the softbox grid on the right side background.
